UNDRR

UNDRR oversees the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, supporting countries in its implementation, monitoring and sharing what works in reducing existing risk and preventing the creation of new risk. As the disaster risk reduction focal point within the UN System, UNDRR will work at global, regional and national levels to identify synergies to improve coordination within countries. In line with the Secretary-General’s reform agenda, UNDRR promotes greater coherence across the UN family and key stakeholders so that climate action and sustainable development policies and initiatives are risk informed.

UNDRR invests in collecting and analyzing risk data through a range of tools and knowledge products like Words Into Action, and mobilizing like-minded partners to incorporate data and knowledge in reducing risk more effectively. UNDRR convenes the Global Risk Assessment Framework (GRAF) and produces the UN Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction (GAR),  the flagship report of the United Nations on worldwide efforts to reduce disaster risk. UNDRR’s Global Education and Training Institute (GETI) works globally with governments, institutions, the private sector and civil society to build capacity to mainstream disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation into sustainable development. Through UNDRR GETI  Making Cities Resilient campaign, UNDRR provides capacity building support to national training institutions working on resilience issues, supporting best practice exchange.

UNDRR provides advisory guidance to the development of CADRI Partnership products and services, such as the compendia of good practices, the development of training modules and the CADRI Capacity Diagnosis and Planning tool.
