The objective is to empower participants of the online course to initiate and develop an initial/ rapid multi-sectorial assessment. The training will help learners to carry out an ‘Emergency Needs Assessment’ (ENA).
An ENA provides an understanding of a disaster situation in the first two weeks of an emergency. Participants will work their way through the whole assessment process: from clearly defining the purpose of the assessment, proceeding with the application of appropriate methodologies, to the analysis and dissemination of your findings. This training provides a step-by-step tool with clear recommendations throughout.
As a result of this training, you will: recognize the purpose of assessment in emergencies; identify the main principles of assessment; identify who is on the assessment team; be able to apply the steps of the assessment process within your area; distinguish between primary and secondary data; recognize how to review secondary data; understand how to collect primary data; be able to summarize, compare and interpret data; recognize how to develop a scenario; understand how to report and disseminate your findings.
